By the end of May, 2018, around 81.3 million Vietnamese people buy health insurance including 13.82 million being compulsory social insurance participants, an increase of 3.25 million people compared to 2012 accounting for 25.8 percent of workforce.
Whereas around 81.3 million Vietnamese people bought health insurance by the end of May, up nearly 21 million people against 2012 or 35.6 percent with the coverage rate of 81.7 percent of the population.
More and more people participate in social and health insurance through years. Especially, in 2017, the number of health insurance holders last year exceeded the goal set by Resolution No.21-NQ/TW. In 2017, some 3.1 million enjoy pension and social welfare monthly an increase of nearly 18 percent compared to 2012.
In addition to achievements, Chairman of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Economic Affairs Nguyen Van Binh pointed out some weaknesses in carrying out social and health insurance policy including negligence of some administrators.
