68 transport projects called for foreign investment

The Ministry of Transport yesterday introduced the sector’s 68 projects to foreign investors and preferential policies to attract investment with the vision to 2020.

26 out of 68 projects introduced to foreign investors are road construction projects.

The biggest road construction project is Dau Giay-Lien Khuong Highway with estimated investment capital of US$1.757 billion; Quang Ngai – Quy Nhon Highway with total investment of US$1.43 billion; Nha Trang - Phan Thiet express way with US$1.405 billion.

10 railway projects include the biggest one –Bien Hoa – Vung Tau  railway for the first phase with total investment of US$2.709 billion.

In addition, the Ministry also told investment policies and guidelines in carrying out the projects.

According to the Ministry, total spending for yearly infrastructure sector increased from VND12 trillion ( or US$760. In the period of 2001-2005, total spending was around VND12 trillion (US$760 million) per year and it was VND70 trillion ( or US$3.1 billion) in 2015; 35 percent of the amount comes from investors.
