Work began on a pulp and paper plant in the Central Highlands province of Kon Tum January 17.
It is being built by the Tan Mai Group at a cost of VND1.87 trillion (US$101 million) and will be completed in two phases.
After the first phase, the plant will have an annual capacity of 130,000 tons of pulp.
After the second, to be completed in 2012, it will have a capacity of 200,000 tons of paper, including newsprint, a year.
The plant will use environment-friendly technologies and a wastewater treatment system.
Tan Mai Group said it would increase the plant’s pulp output to meet the demand from paper plants around the country.
