VN & UN co-sign OSP 2017- 2021

Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung and the United Nations (UN) Resident Coordinator Kamal Malhotra yesterday co- signed Overarching Strategic Plan (OSP) between Vietnamese Government and 18 agencies of the United Nations for the period of 2017- 2021.

With an estimated budget of US$ 423 million, the OSP will give priorities to four major sectors which shaped on the basis of people, planet, prosperity and peace.

The plan is expected to develop partnership foundation between the United Nations, Government, private partners and NGOs which were lawfully established. 

Minister Nguyen Chi Dung said that the OSP was signed and implemented at the time when Vietnam started launching the National Action Plan as well as the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. 

Vietnam will adopt overall solutions to curb inflation, stabilize microeconomics and ensure social security; and do effectively comprehensive solutions on economic restructuring. 

Besides the assistance of the partners, the United Nations plays an important role for Vietnam’s development and integration via policy support to Vietnamese Government, experience share between Vietnam and developing countries towards economic growth and sustainability balanced between economic and social development.
