Vietnam wins 2015 Asia-Pacific Robot Contest

Vietnamese students from Hung Yen Technology and Education University crowned the championship title at the 2015 Asia-Pacific Robot Contest (ABU Robot 2015) in Indonesia after beating Hong Kong (China)  5- 1 in the final yesterday.

This year’s contest attracted 19 teams from countries and territories in the Asia-Pacific region. Among them, Hungyen Techedu team who won the championship in the national robocon contest was the representative of Vietnam in the region contest.

Earlier, Hungyen Techedu team defeated Egyptian, Kazakhstan, Japanese and Indonesian team with achievement of 5- 1, 5- 0, 5-1, 5-1 respectively.
 
The 2015 Asia-Pacific Robot Contest under theme of “ROBOMINTON" put badminton robot into realization. This is the first robot game ever using a theme of sport. Thus, it is a real challenge for students.
 
Teams had to design features on their two robots which worked as two badminton players, competing contradiction against other competitors.
 
Although this year is the first time Hungyen Techedu joined in the contest, the team unexpectedly won the championship with good preparation.
 
It is an annual handmade robot contest, which started in 2002 for university, college and polytechnic students in the Asia-Pacific region. Under a common set of rules, participants compete with their peers from other countries with hand made robots. This contest aims to create friendship among young people with similar interests, as well as help advance engineering and broadcasting technologies in the region.

The annual Asia-Pacific Robot Contest is also considered as a useful playground for students to learn, share experience and interest in the field of robotics innovation.
