As a precautionary measure, the Drug Administration of Vietnam has announced the recall of Typhim Vi typhoid vaccine by Sanofi Pasteur, a prefilled syringe and 20-dose vials, because of some antigen content found in them.
The drug is manufactured by Sanofi Pasteur of France and imported by Hong Thuy Company and the May Pharmaceutical Company.
The vaccine met all requirements at the time of distribution, yet some lots were discovered to have an antigen content that was lower than the established minimum level in some prefilled syringes.
However, there is no safety concern related to this action.
As per the Administration, importers and pharmaceutical companies have been asked to recall all batches of the vaccine (prefilled syringes and 20-dose vials) to submit to the Administration before December 1.
Earlier, the May Pharmaceutical Company told the Administration of a temporary pause in distribution of the vaccine and a voluntary recall of the batch.
The vaccine is used to fight typhoid fever in adults and children, requiring only one shot.
