Train and bus collision kills 37 in Ukraine: police

KIEV, Oct 12, 2010 (AFP) - Thirty-seven people were killed Tuesday when a train and a bus collided in the region of Dnipropetrovsk in central Ukraine, traffic police said.

KIEV, Oct 12, 2010 (AFP) - Thirty-seven people were killed Tuesday when a train and a bus collided in the region of Dnipropetrovsk in central Ukraine, traffic police said.

"According to preliminary information, 37 people were killed," the spokeswoman for regional traffic police, Lyudmila Bashmakova, told AFP.

"The driver of the bus broke traffic laws by driving through a red light before colliding with the train," she added.

The spokeswoman said the accident happened at 8:30 am, (0530 GMT). She said the vehicle was an inter-city passenger bus.
