The three- day blood donation festival 2019 is scheduled to attract 12,000 donors collecting minimum 5,000 blood units for treatment purpose.
Students and people of all walks of life will take part in the festival especially with the presence of well-known athletes and celebrities.
At the inauguration ceremony, Deputy Health Minister Truong Quoc Cuong said that the need for blood and blood products is rising, blood donation drives including Pink Spring Festival, Red Sunday, Red Journey and voluntary blood donation in organizations should be organized regularly to encourage all donors to give more blood.
Simultaneously, medical clinics should take heed of blood quality and safety by providing periodic medical check-up to voluntary donors to encourage these donors to come back and become repeat, regular donors.
Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh beat the drum during a ceremony in Hanoi to kick off the event.
