Son Duong Port receives 170, 000 ton ship

The ship Divinus (Bulk Carrier registered in United Kingdom) with a capacity of 170, 000 tons docked at S1 berth, the Son Duong deep-water port in Vung Ang economic zone on January 3.

The ship with 300 meters of length, 45 meters of width, a draught of 17, 6 meters and its capacity of 170, 000 tons which carried 164, 100 tons of iron- ore from Malaysian port Lumut to provide testing of raw materials for Steel Manufactory of Taiwan's Hung Nghiep Formosa Ha Tinh Steel Company (FHS).

The ship Divinus is the largest - ever bulk carrier ship to dock in Vietnam’s port.

The Son Duong deep-water port is one of the most modern seaports of Vietnam with its investment capital of US$ 1 billion. At present, Formosa Ha Tinh Steel Company promptly completed the first phase of the project with total 11 wharfs including two wharfs for 20, 000 deadweight tons and nine wharfs for 1, 000- 5, 000 deadweight tons. It is expected to receive 28 million tons of cargo per year.

In future, Formosa Ha Tinh Steel Company will invest 32 port bridges including six berths for 200,000-300,000 deadweight tons, 20 berths for 3, 000- 5, 000 deadweight tons and six the other one for 6, 000- 10, 000 deadweight tons. The total port bridges' length is 6, 600 meters, and to be received 85 million tons of cargo per year.
