Police prosecute two persons for killing bull in Lam Dang Province

On October 17, the police in Cat Tien District in Lam Dong Province decided to prosecute two persons for killing a bull in Cat Tien National Park, under provisions of the wildlife protection act.

On October 17, the police in Cat Tien District in Lam Dong Province decided to prosecute two persons for killing a bull in Cat Tien National Park, under provisions of the wildlife protection act.

The two persons are Bui Tin and Bui Thanh Luong from Phuoc Son Village in Phuoc Cat 2 Commune in Cat Tien District in Lam Dong Province.

The police have also identified 15 other people who were accomplices in the slaughter of the bull.

The incident took place on the afternoon of October 5, when villagers in Phuoc Son Village saw a bull enter a cultivated area and surrounded it.  They then beat up the bull to death then butchered and shared its meat.

As stipulated in Vietnamese law, bulls belong to wildlife group 1B and identified as rare species, hence prohibited from exploitation for commercial purposes.

Currently the Cat Tien National Park has more than 100 bulls.
