Sai Gon Giai Phong Newspaper has been honored with the certificate of merit for its successful ‘Frontier Spring’ project by Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung.
SGGP will hold a formal ceremony to receive the certificate of merit on the evening of December 11 at the Youth Culture House in District 1 in Ho Chi Minh City. The ceremony will be recorded and broadcasted on HTV7 and HTV7 channels during the Tet holidays.
In all, three certificates will be awarded to SGGP, two for individuals and one for the team. Besides, the HCMC People’s Committee will also present 20 certificates of merit to the team and to individuals.
The ‘Frontier Spring’ project has been carried out mainly by SGGP, with the support of HCMC Television Station, HCMC Police Newspaper, Muc Tim Newspaper, HCMC Law University, and HCMC Heart Institute for the last 10 years.
The project has helped build four kindergartens and two tenements for highland teachers, donated 700 televisions and 3,000 scholarships to needy students in the borderland areas, and presented 100 gifts to frontier and island soldiers.
The project also awarded 40,000 Tet gifts to poor compatriots of different ethnic communities and treated 10,000 patients in Gia Lai, Kon Tum, Dak Nong and Ca Mau Provinces in Vietnam and also in the neighbouring country of Laos.
