On behalf of Party and State leaders, PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc expressed his deep gratitude to heroes’ great contribution and sacrifice who served for the national liberation on occasion of the 70th anniversary of ‘War Invalids and Martyrs Day’ (July 27) and the 49th death anniversary of ten unmarried girls at the Dong Loc Intersection (on July 24, 1968).
He also attended a meeting at the national historical site and presented gifts to families of the 10 fallen young female volunteers.
The event saw the presence of people who are holders of the “Vietnamese Heroic Mother” and “Hero of the People’s Armed Forces” titles, revolutionary veterans, war invalids, and martyrs’ families.
On the occasion, President Tran Dai Quang also offered 16,429 presents to people under preferential treatment policy, including Vietnamese heroic mothers, war veterans, wounded soldiers, families of martyrs, and Agent Orange (AO)/dioxin victims in Phu Yen Province.
A delegation of representatives from the Central Committee works led by Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung on July 23 offered incense and flowers to martyrs at the Road 9, National Martyrs' Cemetery in Quang Tri Province.
The Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) Executive Council and the VBS’s the Executive Board in Ho Chi Minh City together with Vinh Nghiem Pagoda held a requiem to commemorate the martyrs on July 23 with the participation of Former Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan, in the city.
The organization board of the event handed over 20 presents to Vietnamese heroic mothers, families of martyrs and wounded soldiers; and spent VND250 million to support families under preferential treatment policy in HCM City.
