Reports from the working session between the Steering Committee of the Mobile Phone Number Transform Project and major mobile network operators like Viettel, VinaPhone, MobiFone, and Vietnamobile (except Gtel which does not have any representative at the meeting) confirmed that they are all ready for this process.
The mentioned operators have already finished piloting the transformation successfully. They are well-prepared regarding the technical aspect and are perfecting the process to avoid inconvenience at all cost.
However, they all suggested that the Ministry of Information and Communications identify network exit and entrance fees as well as the beginning date as soon as possible.
According to Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Pham Hong Hai, this phone number change is a must to boost the competitiveness of domestic telecommunications businesses and ensure service users’ rights.
This process is to happen from the end of this November.
The Deputy Minister insisted that there is no need to wait until all related enterprises are ready, and that any businesses needing help to carry out the change should report to his Ministry.
He also asked that the Authority of Telecommunications begin the procedure to form a council for the task and make any necessary adjustment to the Circular to be ready for the process.
It is advisable to begin changing phone numbers for postpaid subscribers. Simultaneously, the Authority of Telecommunications must check any possible technical problems and the estimated duration of the process.
The Authority of Telecommunications is demanded to deliver specific information on this number change as soon as possible and to identify suitable propaganda methods to the public so that citizens are well aware of this process.
