Many National Assembly deputies at a working session Saturday on proposed amendments to the Labor Law agreed with an idea that the total extra time to work in one year should not be increased to 360 hours.

The idea came from Ho Chi Minh City representative Huynh Thanh Lap and many other deputies with the National Assembly Committee on Social Issues agreed with him, saying no to a proposal for such an increase.

Many deputies also agreed with an idea that women workers are allowed to be on maternity leave in six months, but they can choose whether they restart working after four months with six months’ allowances.

The working session also discussed the term of a labor contract. Delegates were of the view that the term should remain unchanged, which means 12 till 36 months as currently regulated, to protect unskilled employees in fields that require just simple skills.
