PARIS, June 23, 2011 (AFP) - Japanese airline Skymark ordered two Airbus A380 super jumbos at the Paris International Air Show on Thursday, both firms said, a deal with a catalogue price of $750 million (525 million euros).
The deal marks the first sale of the European planemaker's flagship model at the show, which has been dominated by billions of dollars in sales of the much smaller A320neo medium-haul model.
Skymark ordered four A380 jets in February and took an option on two more.
Now, after posting what Airbus commercial director John Leahy described as "very remarkable financial results", the Japanese airline has exercised the options, adding two more planes to Airbus' fast-growing order book.
