Within the framework of the first state- level visit to Vietnam, Japanese Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko paid a visit to Hue Imperial Citadel, Phan Boi Chau Memorial Site and enjoyed Nha Nhac- Vietnamese court music this morning.
As schedule, the high- ranking guests will participate in other activities as meeting volunteers of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and Japanese community in Hue.
The emperor and empress chose Hue ancient town for this visit because the destination is home to special values in Vietnam’s history, where received the support from Japan in conserving and restorating historical sites
Besides, Hue is the place of cultural convergence between Japan and Vietnam. In field of the culture, there are five cultural heritage sites recognized by UNESCO.
The welcoming ceremony for the high- ranking guests at the Phu Bai International Airport was attendance of Minister of Culture, Sport and Tourism Nguyen Ngoc Thien and his wife, Japanese ambassador in Vietnam Kunio Umeda and his wife, Chairman of the Thua Thien- Hue People’s Committee Nguyen Van Cao and representatives of Foreign Affairs Ministry and others.
