Dang Xuan Khang, head of Interpol in Vietnam, on Friday said that Interpol has issued an international red-alert for Duong Chi Dung, former director of Vietnam Maritime Administration.
Dung, also former chairman of Vietnam National Shipping Lines (Vinalines) has been placed on a worldwide red-alert by Interpol for serious violation of State regulations in the illegal purchase and wasteful repair work of the Floating Dock 83M in 2008.
Dung’s wrongdoings have caused serious consequences for the Government, who is looking to place him on trial.
Earlier the Investigation Agency under the Ministry of Public Security had issued an arrest warrant for his corrupt actions during his tenure as chairman of Vinalines.
However before the police officials could arrest him, Dung made his escape and was not to be found at either his residence or his office.
