HCMC helps travel enterprises recover from pandemic

The Department of Tourism of HCMC said that the total number of arrivals to the city in this year’s Q1 decreased more than 40 percent compared with the same period last year. The city's tourism sector saw a drop in revenue of VND10,000 billion (US$426 million).

Over 90 percent of travel small and medium-sized businesses have stopped operating temporarily while a few leading others have operated perfunctorily. Most of employees are out of work without pay or receive a salary basis.
The municipal Department of Tourism has proposed the city’s government to launch relief measures to support businesses suffering from the COVID-19 pandemic, such as offering tax payment extension and preferential loans, having plans to recover tourism after COVID-19 outbreak , assisting activities in advertising, promotion and human resources training.
