Government cabinet sets new assignments

Under the new assignment, Mr. Dung will hold comprehensive management over all activities of the government.

He will be the direct leader to major governmental tasks, including national and regional socio-economic development plans and strategies, national finance, credit and monetary policies, national defense and security protection, government’s diplomatic campaigns, administrative procedures reformation, construction of state-owned staff, and all matters concerning the East Sea and its islands.

The PM will also be chief of the Central Steering Committee for Corruption Fight and Prevention.

Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc was assigned to assist the PM on corruption prevention tasks as the Standing Deputy Chief of the Central Steering Committee for Corruption Fight and Prevention, and help manage regular tasks concerning staff organization at the government and its Party unit.

Besides the corruption committee, Phuc will also be in charge of supervising the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Ministry of Justice, the State Inspectorate and being the Chairman of the National Traffic Safety Committee.

Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai will help the PM take care of economic issues such as the production development in agriculture, forestry, aquaculture, industry, commerce, foreign trade, construction, as well as the economic impacts on transport, natural resources and environment.

Hai will hold direct management over energy consumption and energy saving campaigns, national strategic projects and those with large state investment, flood prevention campaigns, search and rescue aids in case of natural disasters.

He will help the PM supervise and give orders to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Construction, the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment.

The assignment also puts him as Chairman of the National Council about Water Resources, Chief of the Government Steering Committee on Petroleum, and Chief of the Central Steering Committee on Housing Policies and Real Estate Market.

Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan was assigned to help the PM with educational, cultural and social issues.

Nhan will supervise and give orders to the Ministry of Education and Training, the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, the Ministry of Information and Communication, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics and Administration, Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences, Vietnam National University-Hanoi and Vietnam National University-Ho Chi Minh City.

Deputy Prime Minister Vu Van Ninh will help the government manage comprehensive economic blocks, including issues such as prices, banking, stock market, finance investments, wage and social insurance policies, rural development and alleviation policies, macro economy management policies and forecasting, and the renovation of state-run businesses.

Ninh will be in charge of supervising the Government Office, the Ministry of Investment and Planning, the State Bank of Vietnam, the Vietnam Development Bank, the State Capital Investment Corporation, as well as being Chairman of the Consultation Council for National Finance and Monetary Policies.
