FrieslandCampina Vietnam decided Wednesday to recall its Dutch Lady Vivinal GOS milk after several children reportedly suffered allergic reactions to the product.
The dairy company's decision is applied for all 110ml and 180ml packages in the Vietnam market.
Although tests conducted by organizations engaged by the company have not yet shown allergens in the milk, the Ministry of Health ordered the nationwide recall to safeguard customers’ health, Deputy Health Minister Trinh Quan Huan said October 28.
The recall of the products demonstrated the company’s responsibility to customers’ health, FrieslandCampina Vietnam public relations manager Nguyen Ngoc Kinh Luan wrote in a document to the media the same day.
A few days ago, supermarket chains CoopMart and Big C pulled this milk from their shelves. A manager from Big C said the supermarket would not sell the products again until an announcement is made about the quality of the milk.
Milk and dairy products are one of eight food groups strictly monitored in Vietnam for health and safety.
