Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, chairman of the National Traffic Safety Committee, yesterday instructed in writing authorized agencies to investigate the road accident in the central province of Quang Nam, which killed five military soldiers and injured four others.
In the dispatch to the Ministry of National Defense, the Ministry of Transport, and Quang Nam People’s Committee, he instructed them to mobilize the best conditions to treat the injured soldiers, organize the funeral for the dead and visit and give financial assistance to their families.
Besides, the ministries should instruct authorized agencies to quickly investigate the accident’s cause and determine the responsibility of relevant individuals and teams.
Head of Quang Nam Traffic Police Department Nguyen Duc Chi said that the road face near the accident has been cleared for crane trucks to move in and pull the crashed military truck from the abyss where it fell down Wednesday’s late afternoon.
The truck carried nine soldiers who were on duty for patroling along the Vietnam-Lao border area in Nam Giang District, Quang Nam Province. At that time, it was rainy and the road face was slippery.
The four injured soldiers have been rushed to C17 Hospital in the neighboring city of Da Nang. Of them, two of them are in critical condition.
