City celebrates 40 years of Ho Chi Minh's testament

A seminar, “Ho Chi Minh City - 40 years of implementing President Ho Chi Minh's testament,” was held in the city August 27.

A seminar, “Ho Chi Minh City - 40 years of implementing President Ho Chi Minh's testament,” was held in the city August 27.

The seminar was attended by local leaders, including Le Thanh Hai, member of the Politburo and Secretary of the HCM City Municipal Party Committee; Pham Phuong Thao, chairwoman of city's People's Council; Associate Professor Dr. Phan Xuan Bien, head of the Department of Propaganda and Training of HCMC City’s Party Committee.

According to Dr. Phan Xuan Bien, the discussion received 94 reports honoring the great value of the late President Ho Chi Minh’s testament of building a strong and uncorrupt Party, developing the economy and culture and enhancing the lives of citizens.

The Party and people of Ho Chi Minh City have implemented the renewal process over the last 34 years, built Ho Chi Minh City into modern, civilized and wealthy city and made many contributions to the country, he added.

Dr. Nguyen Thi Hoa Xinh, director of Ho Chi Minh Museum- HCM City branch, said that implementing the disciplines of the Party and the State’s laws, and respecting the organization rules are standards of morality of a revolutionary communist, President Ho Chi Minh wrote in his testament.

The Government’s main task should focus on expanding democracy in the Party widely in building a strong and uncorrupt Party, said the deputy head of the Department of Propaganda and Training of HCMC City Party Committee, Pham Quang.

The Department of Propaganda and Training of HCMC City Party Committee, the Cadres School of Ho Chi Minh City, the city’s Research and Development Institute and HCMC Association of Historical Sciences organized the discussion.

On this occasion, a photo exhibition, featuring 101 pictures of Ho Chi Minh and the country’s achievements, was held at Lam Son Park, Ho Chi Minh City, to mark the 64th anniversary of the August Revolution - National Day, September 2 - and 40 years of implementing President Ho Chi Minh's testament.

The display also presented photos of Uncle Ho editing the testament. 

In related news, Vietnam TV has bought the rights to a 12-part serial documentary film, “Ho Chi Minh – A great man of Vietnam,” made by Thailand TV and will broadcast on VTV4 from September 2.

The film praises the ideology and moral example of Ho Chi Minh and shows his activities in Thailand between 1928-1929, as well as honoring the friendship between President Ho Chi Minh and Thailand’s late President Pridi Banomyong.
