According to Nguyen Van Cong, Deputy Minister of Transport, an investor of the port, the Cai Mep-Thi Vai International Port has been built with advanced logistics systems.

The Port will meet the increasing demand of sea traffic in the southern region and also help speed up progress to remove seaports from inner areas of Ho Chi Minh City.

The Port will link with several international maritime routes directly from Vietnam to other countries in the world.

The Cai Mep-Thi Vai International Port includes two areas--the Cai Mep Container Port and Thi Vai General Port. The former will be able to receive 100,000 DWT vessels while the latter can receive 50,000DWT vessels.

Total investment cost for Cai Mep-Thi Vai International Port is about VND12.9 trillion (US$619.28 million), from Japanese funding and Vietnamese Government fund.
