Bus driver prosecuted for deadly accident

Police in the central province of Ha Tinh have started prosecution against the driver of a bus that was swept away by floodwaters in the province on Oct 18, leaving 20 people dead.

On that day, Tran Van Truong drove the bus past a stop station set up by traffic police in Hong Linh Town to stop vehicles from going through the a flooded section of the National Highway No.1.

Police said Dinh Van Luong was the main driver, but as he was sick that time, his subordinate Truong took over the driving.

Luong died in the accident, while Truong managed to get out of the bus along with 17 passengers as the vehicle was swept to the La River.
 
Truong is being held pending a police investigation of the accident.
