Barge racing accident sinks four boats at Can Tho floating market

An accident during an illegal race between two barges caused four boats to sink at the well-known Cai Rang floating market in Can Tho City on March 13.

According to eyes witnesses, the two sand barges started racing when they came to the river section of Cai Rang Floating Market. Then one of the barges lost control and crashed into a group of boats anchored along the river and damaged the quay of Cai Rang Food Processing Factory. The other quickly left the scene.

The four boats that sank were carrying a total of 27 tons of rice. No one was killed.
