Nguyen Thanh Toai, deputy director general of Asia Commercial Joint Stock Bank (ACB), said the bank had enough liquidity remaining, even though customers have withdrawn large amounts of money, far above normal, in the last two days.

Some customers could not withdraw US currency in the morning hours as the bank did not have sufficient foreign currency at that time, but by afternoon this matter was resolved, said Toai.
Do Minh Toan, permanent deputy director general of ACB, is temporarily replacing director general Ly Xuan Hai to operate the bank for the time being.
Toan said that customers withdrew large amounts of cash on Wednesday, roughly calculated at VND5 trillion (US$240 million). This amount was much lower than what the bank had actually expected to be withdrawn.
The bank expects that customers will withdraw the same amount on Thursday and has prepared enough cash stockpile to tackle the situation.
Nguyen Hoang Minh, deputy director of the State Bank in HCMC, said that they are closely monitoring the money movement, especially at ACB.
On Wednesday, the State Bank ordered ACB to allocate enough money to its various branches to meet the high withdrawal demand by customers.
Other banks in the city are instructed not to take advantage of the condition to detract customers from ACB.
Nguyen Huu Nghia, chief inspector of the State Bank, said that the State Bank and financial institutions have pledged to assist ACB in case of liquidity crunch, so as not to inconvenience customers.
