Vietnam Chief Representative of Abbott Laboratories Vincent on September 24 said that no products distributed in Vietnam are affected by the recent recall of some of its Similac powder infant formulas.

Mr. Vincent said all Similac products distributed in Vietnam are produced in Singapore and Ireland countries.

Recently, Abbott Laboratories, a pharmaceutical health care company, has announced that they are recalling 5 million cans of specified Similar powder infant formula.

Certain Similac powder infant formulas in Guam, Puerto Rico, the USA and some parts of the Caribbean are being recalled by Abbot Laboratories.

Abbott explained that the Similac recall was due to a possibility of some product to contain a small beetle or described by their laboratories as larvae, in which can cause digestion problems or stomach ache among infants.
