The US dollar exchange rate continually dropped in the past two days after the State Bank of Vietnam decided to cut the interest rates on USD deposits from September 28.
By the end of September 29, dollars were bought at VND22,410-22,430 per dollar, and sold at VND22,510 per dollar at most banks.
On free market in Ho Chi Minh City, dollars were traded at VND22,350-22,450 per dollar for buying and VND22,540 per dollar for selling. Some foreign currency exchange agencies even lowered US dollar purchasing rate to VND22,250 per dollar.
Other foreign currencies also fell drastically along with the US dollar. For instance, Eximbank sold euros at VND25,413 per euro, Australian dollars at VND15,746 per dollar, and British pounds at VND34,299 per pound.
