Temperatures reached 40 degrees Celsius in Northern and Central provinces. Extreme heat drove many people to hospitals especially elderly people.
Head of the Hanoi-based National Hospital for Elderly People’s Emergency Room Dr. Tran Quang Thang said that scores of elderly citizens most suffering stroke and pneumonia have been checked at the infirmary.
Similarly, Thanh Nhan Hospital admitted lots of stroke people and some getting shock from high temperature. Plus, some people were sent to the hospital for treatment of pneumonia and flu.
Meantime, residents flocked to the National Dermatology Hospital for treatment of skin diseases, up by 15 – 20 percent compared to normal days.
Noticeably, the Military Hospital 108 received three falling into coma and suffering heart attack. Despite physician’s efforts to save them, two died and one in critical condition. Dr. Nguyen Thi Nga said that the three have worked in the sun for hours without relax and drinking enough water.
To cut waiting time for patients in scorching heat, the Cancer Hospital has admitted patients at 5 AM and provide more examination rooms to reduce pressure in treatment room, X-ray room and testing room. Plus, all infirmaries provide free water to patients.
