According to Mr. .Phan Ngoc Tho, Chairman of the Thua Thien – Hue Province People’s Committee, after a 6-month piloting time, the Thua Thien – Hue Province operation center for a smart city has basically become the place to receive information and deliver corresponding operational feedback, creating an online link between citizens, businesses and state offices while effectively carrying out the task of monitoring, controlling, and improving the quality of public administration activities.
At the moment, the center has simultaneously run nine smart city services, aiming at modernizing state activities, reducing paperwork and multi-level operational tasks, transparently monitoring administrative work, allowing residents to interact with state officers, and forming the friendly as well as efficient local authorities.
The center, therefore, won the Asian Telecoms Awards 2019 in the category of Most Innovative Solution on Smart City.
The formal launch of this center is the opening activity for a series of national IT events, taking place in Thua Thien – Hue Province from July 25 to 27.
On the same day, Chairman of the provincial People's Committee Phan Ngoc Tho welcomed Timothy Liston, Deputy Consul General of the US Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City, and US businesses seeking opportunities to invest in IT in the province.
In this meeting, giant IT businesses such as Dell, IBM, Microsoft, HP, and Intel took turn to introduce their solutions for smart city development with the hope to collaborate and provide technological support regarding IT aspect for Thua Thien – Hue Province to establish a smart urban area.
Highly appreciating the effort from the US partner, Chairman Tho commented that his province possesses a great potential for IT growth as it is trying to transform into a smart city based on an e-government. The province also has rich human and land resources to reach further sustainable development.
