According to the Ministry of Health, more than 11,000 medical workers have visited local doctors in district clinics to help them improve their skills and quality of treatment by apprising them on about 6,676 techniques.
This news was released at the annual meeting of the Ministry in Hanoi on October 17. The meeting reviewed achievements made in 2012 and plans for next year, as well as introduce a development plan for the health sector for the period 2020-2030.
At the meeting, the ministry reported that since last year there has been a decline in infectious cases and death rates from contagious diseases. Noticeably, two satellite hospitals of Bach Mai and Viet Duc in Hanoi have been effective in reducing pressure in two of the bigger hospitals by succeeding in persuading patients to undertake treatment there.
However, the ministry expressed deep concern over the spread of hand-foot-mouth, rubella and dengue fever diseases nationwide, with a drastic increase in the number of patients recently. Local authorities are also being blamed for lax behavior and lack of support in preventing infections.
