Strategic healthcare program launched nationwide

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has approved a national level healthcare program that will help combat the spread of diseases during the period 2012-2015.

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has approved a national level healthcare program that will help combat the spread of diseases during the period 2012-2015.

The general target of the program is to actively prevent social and infectious diseases from spreading as well as curb pandemic outbreaks at an early stage so as to reduce further infections and death rates.

The strategic healthcare program states clearly that the health sector must increase the rate by 10 percent of early diagnosis cancer patients; vaccinate more than 90 percent of children less than one year of age; and medical clinics at border crossings should be upgraded.

The government plans to spend VND12,770 billion (US$613,000) for the nationwide healthcare program.
