Ho Chi Minh City’s authorities June 5 approved Korean electronics giant Samsung’s US$1 billion project to set up an electronic manufacturing complex in the city.
The complex will be built in the Hi-tech Park in HCMC’s District 9. Five years ago Samsung built its first mobile phone manufacturing plant worth US$2,5 billion in the northern province of Bac Ninh.
Last year, Samsung operated another US$ 2 billion manufacturing plant in the northern province of Thai Nguyen.
It is expected that Samsung’s two plants in Vietnam will earn a US$35 billion mobile phone export turnover this year.
