Regular cleaning houses to curb stink bugs: Ministry

The number of hospitalized cases caused by blood-sucking stink bugs increased significantly in Hanoi and northern provinces recently, the Ministry of Health June 13 warned people to clean their houses regularly and eliminate rotten woods.

The number of hospitalized cases caused by blood-sucking stink bugs increased significantly in Hanoi and northern provinces recently, the Ministry of Health June 13 warned people to clean their houses regularly and eliminate rotten woods.

Residents should sleep in mosquito nets to avoid the creature. In case that they are bitten by the stink bugs and the bites have cause swelling, people should wash the bites with soap and go to the nearby medical clinics for allergic treatment.

Stink bug bite is described as painful, itchy and red bruises which last a few days. Stink bugs do not transmit disease and are not poisonous.

Professor Truong Xuan Lam said that before blood-sucking stink bugs appeared from June to August but now people can see them from May to September.
