Lam Quoc Hung, Head of Food Poisoning Unit under the Ministry of Health, said health watchdogs often test plastic drinking straws for toxic substances.

Since 2009 to date, no plastic drinking straws have been found with toxic or hazardous materials.

Test results in 2012 and 2013 also gave a clean record to these items.
