Packaging expo co-located plastics and rubber fair in city

Two international industrial exhibitions, ProPak Vietnam 2010 and Plastics & Rubber Vietnam 2010, opened in Ho Chi Minh City Thursday, co-located to show latest technologies in processing, packaging and plastics rubber.

Two international industrial exhibitions, ProPak Vietnam 2010 and Plastics & Rubber Vietnam 2010, opened in Ho Chi Minh City Thursday, co-located to show latest technologies in processing, packaging and plastics rubber.

The two events are co-located at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center in District 7, held until March 20 and are only for business visitors.

ProPak Vietnam 2010, the exhibition on processing and packaging, draws 172 companies as exhibitors from 172 countries and territories. Up to 88% of the exhibitors are from foreign countries and territories such as Australia, Belgium, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, the UK and the US.

Plastics & Rubber Vietnam 2010 has 216 exhibitors with 90% being foreign companies, who come from Austria, Belgium, Canada, China, Germany, Indonesia, Italy, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Switzerland, Thailand, the UK, the US and elsewhere.

The two events are co-organized by Thailand’s Bangkok Exhibition Services Ltd., German company Messe Düsseldorf Asia, and VietCham Expo – the exhibition services company of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Messe Düsseldorf Asia managing director Gernot Ringling, speaking as a co-organizer of the plastics and rubber exhibition, said, “Among the ASEAN countries, Vietnam will continue to rank highly as an investment destination. Companies in the manufacturing sector, particularly in plastics and rubber processing, are working actively to upgrade their technology capabilities to compete better on the global stage.”

“This trend makes Plastics and Rubber Vietnam an event more important business to business event in Vietnam and on the international calendar.”

The agenda includes a workshop on packaging and processing for food safety, organized by the Vietnam Association of Food Science and Technology on Mar. 19.
 
Other highlights are a seminar on “Lean Sigma Six on the Packaging Industry” organized by Lean 6 Sigma Network, and a conference on industrial workspace cooling organized by Waterline Vietnam Company.

VietCham Expo director Bui Thi Thuc Anh said ProPak and Plastics & Rubber are Vietnam’s largest exhibitions in the industries, held every two years.

Seven Italian companies are attending the three-day exhibitions, which display the industries’ latest solutions and technologies. The Italian firms are Asep Systems, Omag, Pavan, Priamo, Seital S.r.L, Tecmon, and Zanotti.

In a message to the two exhibitions, Vietnamese Vice Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Thanh Bien wrote, “We believe that with rapidly increasing demands on the applications of plastics, rubber and packaging products in automotive, electronics, food and beverage, pharmaceuticals, sub-contracting and other packaging industries in Vietnam, these exhibitions are a great opportunity for companies to promote, look for partners, exchange experience and to modernize their manufacturing systems.”
