CAIRO, Aug 3, 2011 (AFP) - Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak was en route to court where is to face murder charges on Wednesday, shortly after he landed in Cairo, a security official said.
"Mubarak has landed at Almaza military airport," the official told AFP.
"He is now on his way to the Police Academy" where is due to appear in court along with his two sons, the former interior minister and six security chiefs, the official said.
The former president's car was making its way to the court through "deserted streets amid tight security," the official said.
At the trial, Mubarak will be reunited with his sons, Alaa and Gamal, who have been in prison in Cairo, while the former president was in custody at a Sharm el-Sheikh hospital.
