Drugs used to treat major diseases would be stockpiled to ensure their prices do not rise, a health official said February 17.
Dr. Truong Quoc Cuong, head of the Ministry of Health’s Drug Administration Department, said the second phase of a project to maintain stocks has begun.
The number of active elements stockpiled would be tripled from 204, he said, adding the number of companies chosen to distribute drugs has been doubled from three in the first phase.
Health officials expect the second phase to be more effective in keeping prices stable.
