More DEHP contaminated products detected

Vietnamese health authorities have detected an additional 19 beverage products imported from Taiwan (China), which are contaminated with the toxic DEHP chemical.

Vietnamese health authorities have detected an additional 19 beverage products imported from Taiwan (China), which are contaminated with the toxic DEHP chemical.

Ho Chi Minh City health authorities found DEHP in the “Possmei” brand of passion, mango and lychee flavored fruit juice concentrate. Nhat Phu Quy Company in district 3 had imported these products from Taiwan.

16 beverage products imported by Ha Thanh Company in Binh Thanh district were confirmed by Taiwan to be contaminated with the dangerous chemical.

Health authorities instructed the importers to remove these products from the market and withhold their sale immediately. They also asked to report the status of removal of the products to health inspectors everyday.

Health authorities ordered Gia Thinh Phat Company in Tan Binh district, who has imported products from the Ye Yen Gen Company in Taiwan, to report the status of products recalled from stores across the country. Health inspectors have found DEHP in many types of syrup imported by the company. 

The Department of Health in HCMC also ordered businesses to release their products data containing the banned chemical to the media.

Further investigations of food companies listed on the ‘International Food Safety Authorities Network (INFOSAN)’ will be conducted to protect consumers’ health.
