29 year old pregnant woman in Thach Ha District in Ha Tinh Province was hospitalized on August 9 to give birth to the second child.
She was taken to surgery ward for a C-section yesterday. However, after giving birth to a boy baby weighing 3.2 kg, she was bleeding too much, surgeons had to stop bleeding temporarily.
Because blood in the hospital’s storage ran out of, hospital managers called for blood donation of medical workers to save the pregnant. In response to the managers’ appeal, nurse Nguyen Vinh Loc, technician Nguyen Quyet, nurse Nguyen Thi Long, technician Tran Thi Dung and Duong Van Dong gave their blood for treatment of the pregnant.
Four hours after receiving five unit of blood ( one unit equivalent to 250 ml ), the mother escaped danger.
She was being treated in the hospital’s intensive care unit. Her baby was taken care of in another ward.
