Anti-smuggling Department under the General Customs Department said that its officers have detected over 60 smuggling cases of construction materials in a short time.
Construction material items include ceramic tiles and bricks, ashlar paving stones, stainless steel varieties and PVC tubes.
Most smuggling cases were through border gates in the northern provinces of Quang Ninh, Hai Phong, Lao Cai and Ho Chi Minh City. Smugglers wrote wrong quantity of items, names of material or false indication of origins.
Worse, most illegal imported construction material items are turned out to be famous brand names, causing loss for enterprises and damaging prestige of well-known companies in the market.
