On a routine inspection of Vuong Phat Medicine Clinic at 292 Phan Dinh Phung Street in Quang Ngai City, health inspectors and police officials found 20 types of oriental medicines on sale.

The medicines were being sold as tablets and displayed in jars marked with labels in the Chinese script but with no mention of manufacturing country.

Chief inspector Nguyen Thai Son said these medicines have not been approved by the Ministry of Health and therefore cannot be allowed to sell through the Chinese clinic.

In addition, the clinic has been licensed to provide a Chinese doctor to examine patients, but the clinic has been without a doctor for three months.

The clinic’s director, Nguyen Tai Hung, 65, said that the Chinese doctor returned to China in May and has not returned since.

Chief inspector Son said they would report the matter to concerned authorities and ask that the clinic’s license be revoked.
