A horseshoe kidney patient whose both kidneys had been mistakenly removed earlier had a successful re-operation and was discharged from the Hue Central Hospital in the central province of Thua Thien-Hue on September 5.

Last December, doctors in the General Hospital in Can Tho City had mistakenly removed both the kidneys of 37-year-old Hua Cam Tu, when actually it was only her left kidney that needed to be surgically removed.
The Ministry of Health then had her transferred to the Hue Central Hospital for treatment and a kidney transplant, where the surgery was successful.
Tu has been discharged but must continue to be under medication with drugs prescribed by the General Hospital of Can Tho City under directions of the Hue Central Hospital.
Her surgery cost a lot of money but the Hue Central Hospital has decided to cover all her medical expenses.
Tu and her husband decided to choose the date July 10 when the transplant surgery was conducted to be her second birthday to express gratitude to doctors at the Hue Central Hospital who saved her life from a complicated operation.
