The groundbreaking work of the center is expected to start in the end of 2018.
Along with this, well-known pediatric cardiologists will provide training to medical workers for the center.
Training will include heart surgery for premature and underweight neonates, congenital heart surgery, stem cell therapies for heart failure and heart transplant.
The center will treat not only kids with congenital heart diseases in Ho Chi Minh City but also for their peers in the southern provinces.
Cardiologists said neonates usually suffer congenital heart diseases with high mortality and complications. Congenital heart disease, a major cause of serious morbidity and mortality, occurs in seven or eight infants out of 1,000.
The number of babies with congenital heart disease in Children Hospital No.1 escalates year-on-year; for instance, it rose from 1,200 cases in 2004 to over 2,500 cases in 2017. Most of cases had to undergo surgery.
