First babies of lunar new year arrive in HCMC

Six babies including five boys and one girl born only seconds after midnight were believed to be the first babies born in 2019 ( according to the lunar calendar) in Tu Du Maternity Hospital Ho Chi Minh City.

The heaviest baby weighed 3.8 kilogram.
At midnight, couple Tu hailing from the southern province of Dong Nai was delighted to cradle their son weighing 3.1 kilogram. Though they were told to have baby in the new year, they weren’t giving much thought to having the first baby of the new year.
There were a few minute gap between these first babies of the new year.
During the new year’s eve, 274 medical workers in Tu Du Hospital were run off their feet to be ready for delivery of 140 babies in the night.
This year, it was predicted a big year for babies because it is the year of the golden pig (according to the Chinese zodiac and were thinking of having children around that time, you probably would have made extra sure the child was born if possible.)
In 2018, up to 67,000 babies were born in the hospital; accordingly, this year – the year of the golden pig – there will be a rise in the number of babies.
Meantime, medical workers in Can Tho Maternity Hospital provided emergency treatment for a pregnant to save a 3.1 kilogram baby boy.
