Fake products seized in HCMC

The Market Management Department claimed to have unearthed 281 cases of fake and smuggled goods and seized 3,700 products like clothes, glasses and shoes without invoices or proper labelling in Ho Chi Minh City on June 16.

The team also seized more than 2,000 kilograms of cloth from China without an invoice and more than 7,200 packets of smuggled cigarettes.

Two companies producing fake products in two districts of Binh Chanh and Hoc Mon were searched by the team. They also seized 4,687 empty bottles of shower gel imported from Malaysia and Thailand, 1,107 fake shower gel bottles from Malaysia and 344 kilograms of packaged products with markings “Made in Japan”.

6,440 sport clothes, shoes and others knockoffs of famous brand like Adidas and Nike were also seized.

The Market Management Department took stock of 18 shops which did not quote prices on their products and has penalized 65 violators for a total VND2.2 billion (US$110,000).
