Nguyen Thi Hong, Deputy Chairwoman of the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City and Antonio Tajani, Vice President of the European Union Commission attended the opening ceremony of the EU-Vietnam Business Network Center in Ho Chi Minh City on November 12.
Ms. Hong highly appreciated EU’s initiative to launch the center supporting Vietnam-EU trade relations which have developed significantly in recent years.
In the first six months of 2013, there were 46 projects of European businesses with a total registered capital of US$60 million in HCMC.
Ms. Hong hoped that the center will help business communities in Europe and Vietnam to strengthen and broaden their cooperation in next five years.
Vice President Tajani affirmed that Vietnam is one of the important partners of EU. More EU enterprises wish to invest and seek cooperation opportunities in Vietnam.
On the same day, Le Hoang Quan, Chairman of the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, received a delegation of EU enterprises led by Antonio Tajani, Vice President of the European Commission.
Mr. Quan expressed his joy at the results of cooperation between Vietnam and EU in various fields. Ho Chi Minh City sees 364 representative offices of EU businesses and groups.
The City’s import value in EU market was more than US$4.6 billion in the first six months, and export value was around $11.7 billion.
