Nguyen Tri Dung, director of the Department of Preventive Medicine in the city said the number of hand-foot- mouth cases decreased by 2 percent in May compared to April.
Measles cases also decreased by 18 percent compared to April.
City’s health authority continued to implement vaccination for children from three to ten year old to curb the reoccurrence of the disease.
However, dengue fever is still developing complicatedly. Infected cases are 14 percent higher than same period last year. Since the beginning of the year, nearly 3,000 dengue fever people were hospitalized. The number of patients is on rise in districts 7, Thu Duc and Binh Tan.
It is scheduled that the city will carry out a month-long environment hygiene campaign in response to ASEAN Dengue Day (June 15) from June 10 to July 10.
