Customs clearance official suspended for auto import violations

The General Department of Vietnam Customs has just decided to suspend Mr. Duong Phu Dong from head of post-customs clearance inspecting agency in 15 days to make clear his responsibility in auto import violations by Euro Auto Company.

Director of the general department Nguyen Van Can said that the company had used fake documents to do customs clearance for an import consignment of BMW automobiles.

That was only one of many reasons for the department to issue to the suspension decision to Mr. Dong, he said.

Formerly on November 30, the Ministry of Finance sent an express document to the general department about combating smuggling and trade fraudulence in auto import activities.

The document specified that Euro Auto Company has committed many violations while importing CBU (completely built unit) automobiles.

For instance the company has on its own choice sold the import items during the time of customs clearance, deliberately not supplied documents of the consignment and showed signs of fraud to its customers.

The company has also used many forged documents such as trade contracts and commercial invoices.
