June Consumer Price Index (CPI) increased 0.35 percent against May and 1 percent over the same period last year, reported the General Statistics Office.
That is the highest monthly increase level since the beginning of the year, taking the first-half index to raise 0.55 percent--the lowest six-month increase level for the last 14 years.
June CPI was much affected by petrol price which has hiked VND1,200 a liter of gasoline and VND640 a liter of diesel, causing traffic CPI to surge 3.54 percent against May.
Medicine and medical services edged up 0.38 percent.
Hot and muggy weather has risen electricity consumption, resulting in the considerable price hike of housing and construction material group. However the index went up only 0.3 percent thanks to kerosene and gas price reduction.
Food and restaurant services reduced 0.03 percent.
In June, Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi saw CPI up 0.62 percent and 0.13 percent against May and 0.78 percent and 0.98 percent over a year ago.
